CHYCO SIMÉON

“Roots Mwen” is my second solo album playing with my cultural and social roots.

“Roots Mwen”; in 2004, one day Marcus Miller saw me thoughtful and asked me what was “tracking me”. I told him that after my first album “Finally”, which was a synthesis of everything I wanted to express, I wanted to make an album that would be closer to the person I was (an urban who flirts with his Caribbean culture.). He replied “When you send me the titles, I will answer you with a comment that you can put in your album if I feel that you have managed to express it”. Here is this comment:

“This album is a beautiful mix of urban funk/jazz and French Caribbean rhythms. I met Chyco a few years ago and, all that time, he told me that he was searching for a personal sound, a sound that reflects his world, his roots. I think that with this recording, he has very much succeeded!”
